POLICE in Chester are renewing their appeal for motorists to keep their vehicles locked after two teenagers were cautioned for trying car doors in the city.
The pair, both aged 18, were spotted by CCTV operators in Raymond Street trying car doors and attempting to break into vehicles at 2am on January 16.
Police cautioned the two youths for vehicle interference.
Insp Mel Williams of the Chester Inner Neighbourhood Policing Teams said: “This incident acts as a reminder to motorists to keep their cars locked and valuables out of sight.
“In the past we have spoken to people convicted of theft from motor vehicles and they have admitted trying hundreds of cars to find the one that is left insecure. I would urge motorists to help avoid becoming a victim of car crime by taking those simple measures.”
