Man dies at house in Balmoral Park in Chester leading to two arrests

POLICE officers have cordoned off a Chester house where a man died after being stabbed, leading to the arrest of a couple.

The quiet residential cul de sac of Balmoral Park, off Cheyney Road in the Garden Quarter, was a hive of activity on Saturday evening (January 23) as officers began their investigation.

A man and a woman were arrested as part of an inquiry into the death of a man, whose identity has not yet been revealed, following an altercation during which he sustained fatal stab wounds.

Calm had returned to the street this morning (Sunday) but the house where the incident occurred is cordoned off with yellow tape and police officers have been stationed at the front and rear of the property.

One of the officers on the scene said he and his colleague had only been sent to the house when they came on duty at 8am on Sunday.

He declined to comment further on the matter and said any information would have to come from the press office

A resident in Balmoral Park, who did not wish to be named, said the incident took place around 5pm on Saturday.

“There were two ambulances outside the house as well as police officers. The police went from house to house to ask questions at about 9pm but no one seems to have seen anything.”

The resident said the house was occupied by a young woman, possibly in her late 20s, and her boyfriend and possibly one other person.

She added there had been some kind of disturbance at the property before Christmas but she didn’t know any details of what had happened on that occasion.

“This is usually such a quiet road being a cul de sac. You get cars coming down here to turn around but little else,” she said.

So far no one from Cheshire Constabulary has been able to comment on the incident.
