Deeside woman loses 100lbs in a year at WeightWatchers sessions in Saltney

A DETERMINED teacher from Saltney has proven hard work and will power pays off by losing an incredible 100lbs in less than 12 months.

Helen Lewis, 29, joined the Wednesday night slimming sessions at Saltney Methodist Church in January 2009, and lost around 94lbs by the end of September.

Helen, of River Lane in Saltney, said: “I just got fed up and got to the stage where I was thinking I didn’t want to turn 30 and still be the same weight. I hadn’t realised it was piling on.

“I didn’t think I ate too badly, I didn’t eat many crisps or sweets, but looking back I probably did eat a lot. It’s all about will power.

“My neighbour June suggested we went to WeightWatchers, and I’d reached my initial target of getting to 12st 6lbs by the end of September. I stopped going then, but I’ve since lost another half-stone.”

Six-foot tall Helen, an RE teacher at Middlewich High School in Mid-Cheshire, is originally from Stevenage in Hertfordshire.

She has been with partner Allan for three and a half years.

The former University of Chester student added: “The plan WeightWatchers devised for me has been fantastic. I just stuck to it.

“And I do quite a lot of exercise now, much more than I ever did before. I go jogging quite a lot – and play on the Wii Fit!”

Saltney group leader Sandra Lewis said: “It’s a fantastic achievement and I’m so proud of Helen.

“She’s done brilliantly – and she looks stunning.”
