POLICE are appealing for information after three men tried to steal laptop computers from a mobile phone store.
The offenders targeted Carphone Warehouse in Victoria Road, Chester, between 4.45-5.30pm on Tuesday, January 12.
It was believed that they had fled the scene in a silver Peugeot 406.
And two days after the attempted robbery, three men from the Newcastle-upon-Tyne area were arrested in the car in Northampton.
They have since been released on bail while further enquiries are carried out.
Officers are keen to trace the person who provided details of the vehicle to staff at the store as they may have valuable information.
Following the incident, staff called the Carphone Warehouse store in Eastgate Street to inform their colleagues of the attempted theft.
Workers then checked the front window display to find a laptop had been stolen.
A Cheshire Police spokesman said: “It is possible that the two incidents are connected.”
If you have any information call Detective Constable Tom Silsbury on 0845 458 0000, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
