THE University of Chester Informatics Centre is giving students the chance to gain vital industry experience in a venture that offers paid work alongside skilled professionals.
The new programme currently employs nine students, all doing computer courses.
They work alongside a team of experienced practitioners, including senior lecturers, on a range of projects for external companies, as well as undertaking some in-house projects for various university departments.
So far, these projects have included Business Intelligence Systems development and the implementation of web-based and e-commerce applications to support a range of enterprises including on-line sales, academic research and business consulting.
As well as the application development, the Informatics Centre also designs and delivers bespoke training programmes based upon in-house skills and expertise.
The centre is hoping to expand its work into other sectors including marketing, business and media.
