King’s School Chester pupils win Nuffield science bursary for their projects

TWO sixth formers are celebrating after obtaining Nuffield science bursaries.

Isabel Hughes, 18, of Chester, and Cassie Boffey, 18, of Mold, who attend the King’s School Chester, won their bursaries during the summer. They allow them to work on individual scientific projects for four to six weeks with research departments in universities.

Isabel’s project was a production on mono-disparate particles using inkjet technology which increases the efficiency of inhalers.

Cassie’s project looked at the effect of micro RNA 21 and cell proliferation – a drug which inhibits cancer cell growth.

The pair presented their projects at the CREST awards.
