CEDAR Ward at Bowmere Hospital in Chester is the first in the country to successfully achieve level one excellence for organic Acute Inpatient Mental Health Services (AIMS).
The ward, which is part of Cheshire and Wirral Partnership NHS Foundation Trust (CWP) and is for patients with dementia, has been formally recognised by the Royal College of Psychiatrists’ Centre for Quality Improvement for general standards of patient care including therapies, activities, environment and facilities.
Joy Halliwell, modern matron, said: “Recognition for our organic service means our excellent standards of dementia care are formally recognised. This will be regularly monitored.”
