THE trial of a man accused of raping a 29-year-old woman in Chester city centre is under way.
Trainee chef Mark Caunce, 21, of Victoria Road, Buckley, denies rape, a sexual assault and inflicting grievous bodily harm.
The alleged attack happened in the Foregate Street area in the early hours of Sunday, July 26, last year.
The jury was sworn in before Judge Nicholas Woodward at Chester Crown Court on Monday (January 11), and the case has been adjourned until Thursday, January 14, for legal discussion.
The trial is due to last about three weeks and is likely to include CCTV evidence and a city centre site visit by the jury.
