Lorry driver’s shock as cab sets on fire at Dunkirk

AN HGV driver escaped injury after the cab of his articulated lorry set on fire as he drove along.

The incident happened about 5am on Monday on the A5117 between the Little Chef and Dunkirk.

Cheshire Fire Service, who tackled the blaze with a hosereel, said the vehicle was well-alight. The lorry driver, who was looked after by police, was described as ‘fine’.

The fire service said the cause of the blaze was unknown.

Cheshire police spokesman Jason Murray said a suspected electrical fault might be to blame.
