Weaver Taxis closes office in Frodsham

A RECESSION-HIT taxi firm in Frodsham is abandoning its town centre office after almost 20 years.

“The credit crunch is still biting and it’s uneconomical to keep the rented office open any more,” said Weaver Taxis bosses brothers Peter and Sid Sproston, who will close the Church Street office later this month and run the business from their homes in Kingsley.

“I’m a little bit uptight about it but we are determined to carry on and will be taking our 01928 739393 number with us which will be diverted to home and mobile phones in the cars,” said Peter.

“We’ve lost a couple of drivers but we will be running four cabs.”
