Application for affordable homes in Tattenhall approved

CONTROVERSIAL plans to build 14 affordable homes in Tattenhall have been approved.

The application by McInerney Homes and Arena Housing Association for 14 two bed and three bed rented affordable homes on the land north of Ravensholme Lane was granted permission by a planning committee.

The application was met with mixed feelings with both villagers supporting and objecting to the plans.

The village parish council supported the application, but were unhappy that the original layout was changed.

They said in a letter to the council: “Tattenhall and District Parish Council considers the revised layout inferior to that previously submitted and out of character with the local area.”

The council received a number of objections to the plans, including from a nearby sheltered housing community.

A villager, who lives in the sheltered housing, said: “We feel that the quick access to the village via our community will bring a lot of problems with more people and children using our area as a shortcut through the village.”

Another local resident, Malcolm Grainger, said: “While supporting a small development of affordable housing in an appropriate location, which this is not, the proposals seem to be completely insensitive to local residents sentiments.”

Plans were approved with conditions.
