THE girlfriend of a skier missing in Switzerland since Tuesday is ‘distraught’ after the body of a man was found near the ski resort where he vanished.
Sophie Harral, 21, of Mill Lane, Kingsley, has been in a relationship with missing 23-year-old Myles Robinson, of Wandsworth, South London, for more than two years and was due to fly out to Switzerland on Sunday to spend the New Year with him.
Her father Anthony said Sophie was ‘obviously devastated’ and that the couple were in a ‘good’ relationship.
Mr Harral added it hadn’t been confirmed the body found was that of former Newcastle University and Charterhouse school student Mr Robinson.
He said: “It is just baffling. Myles has got everything to live for – he has got a fantastic job lined up in London and we cannot understand what could have happened.”
A body was found on Monday afternoon at the bottom of a steep, icy slope near Lauterbrunnen, a small village close to Wengen.
Mr Robinson was last seen in the early hours of last Tuesday as he walked a family friend back to her hotel in Wengen from the Blue Monkey bar.
The 23-year-old was staying with his family at the Hotel Eiger, only a few hundred yards away.
He was reportedly due to start a new job with a financial services company next week.
The Robinson family has been visiting the resort for 15 years.
With the weather worsening, Cheshire Police has published a short video for drivers. View it here Read
