PARENTS have concentrated on learning new cooking skills while their children play thanks to a Women’s Institute.
The newly-formed Farndon and District WI has introduced a new project in the village to get local families cooking.
A qualified cook from Farndon WI and a team of volunteer WI women have been holding classes every week at Farndon Memorial Hall covering a wide range of subjects such as simple omelettes, lasagne and fruit crumble as well as health and food safety.
Pauline Cotton, from the WI, said: “The course is part of a WI project being rolled out across England and Wales for three years to help young parents learn the basics of cooking so they can prepare healthy meals from scratch for their families.
“The young children are looked after by the volunteer WI ladies while the parents cook and then share together the finished meal.”
The successful course will be repeated starting on January 11 each Monday for six weeks.
