Bunbury Aldersey church school appoints new chairman of governors.

A BUNBURY man has come full circle.

Walter Done, who has born in the village and was a pupil at Bunbury Aldersey Church of England Primary School from 1946 to 1951, has taken over as chairman of the school’s governors from long serving chairman Mike Thomas.

A former senior manager with the education authority at County Hall, where he had a distinguished career, Mr Done is a warden at St Boniface Church.

Now living in Waverton, Mr Done has kept firm links with the village, particularly through the church where he is also a chorister and manages restoration projects.

“I am delighted to be appointed chair of governors at my old primary school to round off a long career in educational administration and management, 53 years so far,” said Mr Done.

“Bunbury has always been a good church school and what better now than to work with the head, staff, parents, governors and the parish church to achieve an ‘excellent school’ outcome at the next Ofsted inspection.”

He added: “A good first task for us all will be to raise funds and make a really good job of the planned project to replace the mobile classrooms with a new building.”

Commenting on the retirement of Mr Thomas, fellow governor Geoff Vickers praised Mr Thomas’s ‘able skills’ as chairman for eight years.
