GIRLS from the 18th Chester Brownies teamed up with the Co-op store in Westminster Park to highlight the importance of Fair Trade.
The project started in November with a special evening of food and fun.
Hosted by Co-op store manager Russell Shaw and his team, the event featured presentations, activities and tastings all designed to inform the girls about what Fair Trade means.
The Brownies happily accepted the Co-op’s challenge to design a poster about what Fair Trade symbolises. The girls produced lots of entries and the staff at the Co-op were very impressed with the quality of the posters they saw, but there could only be one winner – Thalia – although it was close competition for the runners-up spots – Libby, Olivia and Nessa. All were delighted to receive Fair Trade chocolates to recognise their good work.
18th Chester Brownies Brown Owl, Janne Hooper said:
“Our Brownies are amazingly conscious and concerned about the social and environmental problems faced by less fortunate people around the world. We are very grateful to the Co-op for arranging these activities.”
