CITY residents are being warned to be on their guard against opportunistic criminals over the festive period.
Sgt Andy Pickup said: “As Christmas approaches I am sure that you will have your minds on preparations for the Festive period with Christmas shopping, delivering presents to friends and relatives and attending social events.”
He added: “This is also a time of plenty for the criminal fraternity who often take advantage of the public being distracted to commit ‘opportunist’ crimes.”
The police are asking people to take simple steps to protect themselves they are.
Not to leave valuables on show in their cars.
To ensure bags are not left unattended in cafe’s and restaurant.
Always leave a light on when going out in the evening.
Do not leave Christmas presents in view via the window.
