Kids learn a lot on station trip

YOUNGSTERS from Blacon got a first-hand insight into the work of firefighters.

The children, aged eight-11, from Blacon Junior Youth Inclusion Project, visited Chester fire station.

The trip counts towards their Adventure Service Challenge Award.

Firefighter John West, with the project’s Ian Evans, talked the youngsters through some of the equipment they use, showed them around the station and answered any questions they had.

Becky Tomkins, project worker, said: “They let the kids have a go with the hoses. The day went really well.”
