Frodsham has problem with brightly lit commercial premises says Frodsham Town Council

THE BRIGHT lights of Frodsham are worrying community leaders who fear too many businesses are being allowed to display internally-illuminated signs.

Town Councillor Frank Pennington complained: “Everyone seems to be putting these signs up wherever they like. The town centre is a conservation area and it looks dreadful at the moment since Cheshire West and Chester Council came in. It wasn’t allowed when Vale Royal Borough Council was going, so is there anything different with the new council?”

Cllr Brian Lloyd, vice-chair of the town council planning committee, agreed it was “a point well made and we will look at it“.””.

He said externally illuminates signs, such as the new one at the Queens Head pub, could be attractive in the conservation area, “but when applications come in for internally-illuminated signs our committee objects every time.

“ It’s up to the planning committee at Cheshire West and Chester to decide whether we are listened to.”
