Amazing list of sporting achievements at Upton High School
SPORTING achievements have been a source of great pride for a huge number of students at Upton High School.
Young people from the school have excelled in sports ranging from cycling to boxing, rugby to cross country.
Head of PE at Upton High, Paul Medland, said: “Pupils have been working really hard and achieved great things.”
The roster of achievements include:
Gemma Maylead, senior cross-country winner.
Tessa McCormick, intermediate cross country winner.
Brad Edwards, intermediate cross county winner.
Luc Hall, Arriva Trains youth cycling Tour of Wales winner.
Jamie Wild. county U14s single, doubles and mixed doubles badminton champion.
Dominic Liddell, Crewe U17s Wrexham junior singles and doubles badminton winner.
Jac Newis, Shropshire indoor tennis tournament winner.
Boxer Josh Middlehirst won his first competitive fight.
Will Fairclough made the Cheshire U15s rugby team.
Phil Roper made the England U18s hockey team.
Year 11 netball Chester & District tournament winners; U16s netball won the county championship and now go to Blackpool in the next round of the national cup.
Sophie Jones has made the high performance England squad for netball.
Year 10 football district seven-a-side competition winners; Year 9 football district seven-a-side competition winners.
Year 9 West Cheshire emerging schools rugby competition winners.
