Chester pensioner threatened at knifepoint in his home

AN ELDERLY man was threatened at knifepoint in his home last night (Thursday).

At about 8.30pm an 82 year old man heard voices outside his home on Stamford Road. When he opened the door, he was suddenly forced back into his home by a man carrying a large kitchen knife.

A police spokeswoman said: “The offender made verbal threats towards the elderly victim while carrying the knife and searching through the house. At one point he pushed the victim to the floor.”

The offender left the house on foot with the victims wallet. Luckily the pensioner was uninjured but had been left in a state of shock.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the incident and are asking local residents if they saw anyone matching the offenders acting suspiciously nearby at the time.

The offender is described as white, in late 20s, around six foot tall. He was wearing dark clothing and hood, and had the lower half of his face covered. He spoke in a local accent.

Police are asking anyone with information to contact Detective Sergeant Mike Beamish of Chester CID on 08454580000, or contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800555111
