Tarporley parish council raises its council tax precept

TARPORLEY Parish Councillors agreed to raise their annual precept for their share of the council tax by nearly 4%.

At their meeting on Monday it was eventually agreed to raise the precept from £54,000 to £56,000 a rise of 3.7%.

The rise was fiercely debated by councillors. Cllr Ernest Boynes said: “It is clear the money we get next year from Cheshire West and Chester is going to be restricted.

“It means we may have to start paying for things we have in previous year’s CWAC have paid for.” The councillors voted six to three to increase the precept to £56,000 for the financial year 2010/2011.
