French couple bring the romance of Bordeaux to the Cheshire countryside
A FRENCH couple are hoping their romantic fine dining retreat will steal the hearts of their customers.
Corine and Remy Sere-Couteight- Colson moved to Rowton from Bordeaux in March to be closer to their grandchildren.
The couple, who had previously run a fine dining restaurant in France called La Fontaine aux Fees, decided to give up the fast and frantic pace of a restaurant and run a fine dining experience for couples and small groups in Rowton.
Their business, called Romance in Chester, is based on Rowton Lane, hidden away in a small barn conversion on a farm surrounded by Cheshire countryside.
Remy and Corine offer a fine dining table for special events and small dinner parties with food served on the basic of four or five course meals. Couples and groups have the experience and quality food of a restaurant, but without the other customers.
Remy and Corine also offer a romantic guest bedroom and a meeting room facility.
Remy said: “It is all about the romance. We provide excellent gourmet food and supply the romantic surroundings and music and then we leave the couple or party alone.
“We have had a couple coming to get engaged and others celebrate their engagement as well as small dinner parties and business meetings. It is a wonderful way to spend an evening.”
Corine cooks while Remy runs the front of house.
Remy added: “It is a very personal service.”
Customers can book and choose what they would like to eat through the website as well as view the dining room, but they also take bookings via phone. For more information go to www.romance-in-chester.co.uk.
