A WITNESS appeal has been launched after an elderly Neston woman was targeted by distraction burglars yesterday (Wednesday, December 16).
A man approached the 81-year-old woman’s home on Tannery Lane claiming to be an official from the water board.
Police spokeswoman Shelley Williams said: “The man stated there had been an explosion in the area and he needed access to her house to check the water supply. A second man also entered the property and distracted the victim whilst the other offender searched through the house.”
“When the victim became suspicious and confronted the men, they pushed her and snatched her handbag from her. Both men fled the house on foot in the direction of Neston railway station.”
The woman was uninjured.
The first male is described as white, of medium build, in his mid 20’s with thick brown hair which was pushed back. He was wearing navy blue overalls which had white writing on the cuffs and spoke with a slight Irish accent.
The second male was described as white in his early 20’s of a slim build and taller than the other man. He was wearing , dark clothing and also spoke with slight Irish accent.
