Children from Upton Westlea Primary School stage Scrooge for their Christmas show

A HAUNTINGLY good play at a Chester primary school got pupils in the Christmas spirit.

Children at Upton Westlea Primary School, Weston Grove, performed Scrooge for delighted parents as part of their Christmas celebrations.

Headteacher Chris Jackson said: “It was a wonderful performance – the staff worked really hard in putting the shows together, and the parents were really appreciative.

“We even had special effects like smoke for the ghost scenes and snow for the street scenes.

“Every one of our pupils were involved and we are now working with Year 6 pupils in producing newspaper-style reviews of the play.”

The musical also showcased the talents of a number of pupils who Mrs Jackson described as having a ‘very promising’ talent for acting and singing.
