Chester schools take part in Make It eco-challenge at racecourse

TEENAGERS got an insight into what it takes to run a green business when they took part in a ‘Make It’ schools challenge.

The 14- and 15-year-olds from 12 schools across Cheshire and Flintshire set up an Eco-PART (Paper and Recycling and Technology) business during a day-long event at Chester Racecourse.

The event was part of The Manufacturing Institute’s Make It in Manufacturing campaign to attract talented young people into industry.

The event was sponsored by the Mersey Dee Alliance and supported by Flintshire and Wrexham councils and the Northwest Regional Development Agency.

Make It campaign manager Nicola Eagleton-Crowther said: “The recession has demonstrated how crucial manufacturing and engineering are to our economy and it’s essential that we attract the brightest young people to work in the sector.”
