West Cheshire College honoured at national awards to recognise unsung heroes of further education

WEST Cheshire College’s commercial services team has been highly commended in the national LSIS STAR Awards competition to recognise the achievements of the unsung heroes of further education.

Held annually, the LSIS STAR Awards - considered the Oscars of the learning and skills sector - recognise and reward the dedication and expertise of the people who, on a daily basis, make a significant contribution to improving the skills of young people and adult learners.

The college’s commercial services team were highly commended for their efforts in employer engagement – working closely with employers to develop flexible and responsive training to meet the objectives of the business and the specific training needs of their staff.

Commercial services area manager Jayne Smith said: “It is fantastic that the hard work of the team has been nationally recognised but we wouldn’t have achieved this without the excellent feedback we received from the employers we work with every day.

“We would like to thank out employers and partners for their continued support.

“The recession has made this a challenging year, with the need to upskill the workforce even more important to keep our area economically competitive and speed up our route out of recession.

“It’s great to be recognised for this work and we are all thrilled with the award.”
