A VILLAGE community is bidding to become completely sustainable by promoting local produce, energy efficiency, renewable energy and education.
Homeowners in Kinglsey are being urged to join the Kingsley Transition Initative (KTI), led by residents Allan Arthur and Simon Sherlock, who are working with the Green Communities programme from the Energy Saving Trust to develop carbon reduction projects.
Heather Gott, Green Communities Officer for Energy Saving Trust Merseyside and Cheshire said: “KTI aims to set up community allotments, develop a directory of local producers, reduce energy wastage in homes and hold regular local produce markets.”
They group have also gained the support of Cheshire West and Chester Council and the parish council.
Simon Sherlock said: “We have already organised three successful events including Kingsley’s first local produce market which was opened by our MP Mike Hall and was very well attended.”
