Hundreds pay a visit Tarvin Christmas Festival
TARVIN was brought to life with an extravaganza of festive fun for all the family at the weekend.
The village’s Christmas festival attracted visitors from far and wide to the High Street and they were treated to music, shopping and an appearance from Father Christmas and his reindeer.
Local groups Treuddyn Tested, The Weevils, Tarvin Ladies Choir and Waverton Hand Bell Ringers entertained the crowds while Tarvin resident Sylvia Weaver performed a rendition of various carols.
Despite the drizzle of Friday night, all stall holders reported strong sales while a chocolatier made the 130-mile journey from Hull. Tarvin Christmas Festival Committee chair Rachael Lloyd said: “Our fame must be spreading!”
Residents living at 31 Hockenhull Crescent were celebrating after their house achieved the “best lights in Tarvin 2009” award while Leah Barnham won the fancy dress competition for appearing as a Christmas cracker.
On Sunday, the Christmas Tree Festival at the Methodist Church brought proceedings to a close where themed trees were on display.
