TIME-TRAVELLING Dr Who will be making a flying visit to the Frodsham to help raise funds for the Christie Hospital in Manchester.
A David Tennant look-a-like will be joining in the Christmas fun at The Rock Shop, Lady Heyes Craft Centre, Frodsham, on Saturday from 12-4pm.
Stephen Kelleher, who has built a replica of the Tardis at the shop, said: “We are hoping to raise lots of money Christie Hospital and will have a Dr Who look-a-like, Santa Claus, and there will be crafts, cakes, and every child will receive a present.”
Friend and neighbour Bob Carolgees is expected to call in with Spit the Dog, and a harpist will also be entertaining the crowds at the event.
Entry is free, but visitors will be able to make a donation.
Stephen will be joined by his neighbour and fellow Christie fundraiser Ilse Splaine, who will be giving away home-made mulled wine and German Stollen cake to complete the festive day.
Former Christie patient Ilse, 74, has been fundraising for the centre, with her husband Bob, for 21 years.
They have raised more than £60,000 to date.
She said: “I have enjoyed every minute of my 21 years fundraising and it is my way of saying a big thank you to Christie.
“I couldn’t give it up and I am aiming for 25 years.”
Community fundraising officer at the Christie charity, Jacky Plant, said: “I am sure that Father Christmas and the Tardis will be a winning combination and I want to say thank you to Stephen for once again hosting this popular event.
“Ilse and Bob have worked extremely hard for the Christie for more than two decades – their enthusiasm is incredible and we are so grateful.”
