Cross Country Films have released a DVD on the Sandstone Trail

A WALKING guide to the Sandstone Trail went on sale this week.

The DVD – made by Macclesfield-based Cross Country Films – is the first documentary solely featuring the popular 34-mile trail.

Presenter and film maker Ian Coppack, originally of Norley, said: “The films are for walkers to see what it’s like and also for people who have completed the trail and want a memento of it.

“It’s about bringing people in to the area to boost tourism.

“We’ve had so much feedback, we know that people will use the local accommodation, pubs, and amenities and we know the film will have a big impact.”

The 52-minute film takes you on a journey from Frodsham to Whitchurch and through the beautiful Cheshire countryside in between and was shot in four days during August, it includes popular landmarks like the Woodhouse Hill Fort –an Iron Age fort at Alvanley Cliffs – Delamere Forest, Beeston Castle, Peckforton Castle and many more.

“I worked for an authority for many years in countryside management, as did Juliet Molyneux, my co-presenter.

“We were making films for the authority and decided we would start our own company.

“It’s an area I know really well, I was brought up in Norley, near Delamere.

“It took us four days to walk the trail and film last August. We really had to go out on a limb.”
