Chester university birthday girl joins Handbag of Harmonies for fundraising concert
DUTY called for a young singer whose birthday celebrations clashed with a fundraising gig.
Sarra Elliott, a final year student at the University of Chester, chose to celebrate her 21st birthday singing with A Handbag of Harmonies choir at Peckforton Castle to raise funds for the Hospice of the Good Shepherd.
Sarra, who has been with the choir for a year, said: “Singing with The Handbags is such a lot of fun that I thought it would be a great way to spend my birthday!”
The English and drama student had enjoyed a romantic lunch with fiancé Ross Cooper before jumping aboard a coach to travel to the venue.
The event, which included the choir concert, a Christmas fair and a hog roast, raised £3,000 for the hospice in Backford.
A Handbag of Harmonies sing at Alexander’s in Chester on Sunday December 13 at 8pm. Tickets from www.alexanderslive.com or telephone Linda Holt on 07778 391348.
