HELPERS and volunteers rubbed shoulders with celebrity as they enjoyed a VIP presentation.
Esther Rantzen, who helped set up Childline, was joined by Volunteer Centre Chester representatives at Childline in Prestatyn.
Esther visited to talk to volunteers and supporters.
The Prestatyn branch has been registered with the volunteer centre for several years and has referred many Chester volunteers seeking to help as telephone counsellors or switchboard operators.
Childline is the NSPCC’s free and confidential 24-hour helpline for children in distress or danger. Trained volunteer counsellors comfort, advise, and protect children and young people who may feel they have nowhere else to turn.
Childline volunteer co-ordinator Sally King-Sheard said: “Children and young people can call Childline about anything – no problem is too big or too small. But due to a lack of volunteers they cannot always answer all of them.”
