HUNGRY carol singers braved the cold to give Chester visitors a tuneful backdrop to their Christmas shopping.
Students from Petty Pool College, in Sandiway, were in the city to raise funds for their special Christmas lunch and their student achievement awards at Portal Golf Club.
The hardy group raised £927 which will go towards a three-course meal, student feature film presentation and disco.
Petty Pool College quality director Mary Watt said: “We would particularly like to thank store manager Debbie Barber and facilities manager Kevin, of Debenhams, who very kindly provided a source of electricity to power the carol singers’ PA system when the battery failed due to the extremely cold temperatures on the day.”
Petty Pool College is a further education facility for young adults with learning difficulties and has 95 full-time students enrolled.
The college offers vocational training and entry-level qualifications in art and media, hospitality and catering, retail, ICT, horticulture, animal care and independent living skills.
