A WOMAN who died of cancer has left a parting gift to the hospice where she spent her final days.
Margaret Harold, 82, from Runcorn, died at Halton Haven Hospice in September this year following a battle with lung cancer.
In recognition of the care she received, she instructed her partner, Stuart Wilson, to pass on £15,000 to the hospice after she was gone.
Stuart, 87, met Margaret on a holiday to Blackpool organised by the pensioners’ club they both attended.
He said: “Margaret was a brave person to go through what she went through.”
Family support co-ordinator Jan Gray, who worked closely with the couple, said: “It was a pleasure to have known both Stuart and Margaret, even in this difficult situation their spirits were always high.
“The cheque we received means so much to the hospice, it’s a phenomenal amount and I’m sure Margaret knows its going to a great cause.
“I would like to say thank you to Stuart and to Margaret for their kindness.
“Margaret will have one of the first plaques placed on the new memorial wall.”
