Vote for Beth: Who the Bunbury gymnast is up against for this year’s BBC Sports Personality of the Year Award

nTHE Sports Personality will be broadcast from Sheffield on Sunday, December 13 on BBC One and BBC Radio Five Live at 7pm and will be subject to a public vote.

Chronicle readers can vote for Beth by text or by phone as soon as lines open on the night.

Apart from Beth, who is a 33/1 shot for the title, the other nominees are:

Jenson Button (4/7) The 29-year-old from Frome became Formula One world champion with budget team Brawn.

Jessica Ennis (4/1) British heptathlete who won gold at the World Championships in Berlin with a personal best score.

David Haye (6/1) Boxing’s undisputed cruiserweight king stepped up to heavyweight and stripped 7ft giant Nikolai Valuev of his world title in Germany.

Ryan Giggs (6/1) The veteran Welshman captained Manchester United to the Premiership title in April.

Andrew Strauss (12/1) The England captain guided England away from troubled waters to seal an unexpected Ashes triumph.

Andy Murray (50/1) Still to win a major, Dunblane-born Murray rose to number two in the tennis world rankings earlier this year.

Tom Daley (50/1) The 15-year-old diver won his first world title in Rome in 2009.

Phillips Idowu (66/1) Triple jump ace Idowu bounced back fro the disappointment of silver at the Beijing Olympics to win gold at the worlds in Berlin.

Mark Cavendish (66/1) The Isle-of-Man road racer won an historic six stages in this year’s Tour de France and became the first Englishman to win on the Champs-Elysees.
