AN ADDITIONAL £44,000 to tackle anti-social behaviour in Cheshire West and Chester will benefit the communities of Frodsham and Helsby.
The extra investment, due to the council’s status as a Crime and Justice Pioneer Area, is part of a £10m package of measures from the Communities Department to support authorities across England in dealing with anti-social behaviour.
Weaver Vale MP Mike Hall said: “This new investment clearly demonstrates that Labour is on the side of local communities in tackling crime and anti-social behaviour.
“I am pleased that Weaver Vale residents will benefit from the Government taking these tough and necessary measures.
“I understand the misery anti-social behaviour can cause, and I know that the powers Labour has given to the police, councils and other agencies to tackle it achieve results.
“They have the support of local communities and make a real difference on cracking down on unacceptable behaviour.
“I would urge the council, police and other local bodies working in partnership to meet the challenge set by ministers to make full use of the powers – tackling not tolerating anti-social behaviour is a top Labour priority.
“I know this extra funding will make a real difference to the lives of those residents in Weaver Vale whose lives are blighted by low-level disorder and anti-social behaviour.”
As part of the national program there will be a specific targeted package for residents in social housing including a Housing Action Squad and a binding Respect Standard for social landlords.
This includes training and supporting front line staff such as ASB co-ordinators, police and neighbourhood wardens.
