Frodsham country market launches Christmas crafts and gifts

A COUNTRY market with a Christmas twist took place in Frodsham.

The local produce market – which has been running every Thursday from 9am-midday since 1977 – welcomed Frodsham mayor Geoff Bath and his wife Kath to open this year’s Christmas-themed event last week.

Market chairwoman Pam Carey said: “We are a co-operative of more than 20 producers selling homemade and locally-produced goods and are part of a national network of more than 400 markets.

“And this Christmas we have an assortment of specific items, from cakes and puddings to mince pies and decorative items.”

The market has taken place in the games room behind the Bear’s Paw pub for the last three years and is becoming more and more popular.

“All our producers hold current certificates in food hygiene and the goods on sale range from savouries like steak pies to cakes, pastries, preserves, eggs and honey.”

Pam added: “The freshly harvested produce – apples, lettuce, and raspberries – is on sale in season and there is a large range of crafts and cards, perfect for Christmas.

Garden plants are a speciality with many different and unusual plants offered throughout the year.”
