Day Nursery in Chester wins top training award

THE Jigsaw Day Nursery in Chester has been selected as the winner of the YMCA Training Employer of the Year Award, in recognition of their exceptional commitment and support to work-based learning.

Nursery representatives Claire Doyle and Charlotte Thomas received their award at the YMCA Training Annual Achievement Awards, held at the Palace of Westminster.

The event was sponsored by John Penrose MP, with the winners receiving their awards from TV presenter Diane Louise Jordan and YMCA Training chief executive, Anne Linsey.

The nursery, based at Wrexham Road, Eccleston, has been supporting YMCA Training learners since 2001 and, in that time, has supported an impressive 74 learners.

There are 34 members of staff within the nursery, all of which have been given training support by YMCA Training.

Claire Doyle, owner of the Jigsaw Day Nursery, said: “We feel very proud to be one of the highest qualified nursery teams in Cheshire and we feel that we have achieved such a high standard, thanks to YMCA Training and their amazing team.”

Karen Dykes, manager of YMCA Training Chester, said: “The Jigsaw Day Nursery has never refused to take one of our learners and has always given everyone a chance.

He added: “The nursery has a very positive attitude to workforce development, and we are over the moon that its ongoing support and commitment has been recognised with this award.”
