A DANCE teacher is raising the barre of ballet classes with her new imagination-focussed lessons in Tarporley and Eaton.
Nicolle Higgins set up her new Pointe Works dance school in September and teaches at Tarporley Community Centre and the Jessie Hughes Village Hall in Eaton.
She said: “I am teaching a new syllabus which involves lots of props such as wings and wands to enhance the children's imaginations.
“It's an exciting new approach to teaching ballet which is less focussed on forcing children to adopt un-natural ballet positions too young, preferring to focus on expression, stability and rhythm.”
Nicolle attended her first ballet class in 1975 and attained a degree in psychology but continued her dance training along side her career in commercial property.
Her ambition to become a full time ballet teacher was realised in 2007 when she was offered a place on the RAD teacher training course.
She teaches children aged from two and half and also runs adult beginners classes.
