Beth Tweddle performs Hoole Christmas lights switch-on

MORE than 2,000 people packed Hoole on Saturday to see world gymnastics champion Beth Tweddle switch on the Faulkner Street and Charles Street lights.

Beth shared the stage with Simon Davies from Dee 106.3 for the event.

She said: “I love coming to Hoole and really enjoyed myself. I can’t believe there were so many people there!”

Lights committee member Rob Amans, of Mr Fruity, thanked Beth for taking time out from her hectic training schedule to attend.

He said: “Beth showed her gold medal to lots of excited children and I am sure they will remember meeting her for years to come.

“I must also thank the many other guests who helped make it such a memorable evening, particularly Hoole choir The Songsmiths, the cast of Aladdin and the shops and pubs that helped the Christmas spirit by providing mulled wine and hot drinks.”

Chairwoman of the Hoole Lights Committee Sharon Brenton said: “The local community has been wonderful in coming together to make this the best switch-on yet and we hope that people from all over Chester will visit Hoole to enjoy the lights between now and Christmas.“
