Record number of entries for Upton-by-Chester Horticultural Society autumn show

THERE were awards aplenty at the Upton-by-Chester Horticultural Society’s autumn show at the village hall this year.

A record number of 304 entries in classes including flowers, fruit, vegetables, cakes, jams, preserves, floral art and photographs meant the final event in the society’s annual calendar was a blooming success.

Narayan Subramanian said: “Much credit and thanks go to a number of committee members, in particular Jeff Formstone for the preparation of schedules, Bob Worboys for co-ordinating and staging the shows and chairman Wendy Carman, who has worked tirelessly during the year to ensure success of the society.”

The Safeway Challenge Cup, awarded to the exhibitor gaining most points in the show, was shared by Mr D Lowe and Mr E Lloyd.
