Bickerton Primary School pupils enjoy visit to Westminster and Natural History Museum

ELECTED pupils of Bickerton Primary School enjoyed a visit to the home of democracy when they visited London.

Members of the school council were led by headteacher Paul Sweetnam and teacher Janice Latham for a tour of Westminster during which they had tea and cakes in the House of Lords. They also had the opportunity to meet their MP, Stephen O’Brien.

The children also took in a visit to the Natural History Museum while many experienced their first journey on the underground and in a London taxi.

Mr Sweetnam said the pupils had been a credit to the school from the moment they left Crewe Railway Station.

He said: “This was a wonderful opportunity for our children. Having been elected by their classmates to the school council to represent them, going to Parliament has given them the chance to see democracy on a bigger scale and to meet the elected MP from our constituency.

“They had a great day, meeting exceptional people who believe passionately in what they do, hearing debates, and experiencing life in the House of Commons and the House of Lords.

“All of the children were a real credit to our school and to their families. We are very proud of them.”
