Broughton shop staff could face job losses

STAFF at outdoor leisure stores could face redundancy, after the company’s owners announced closures.

Blacks Leisure Group, which owns Blacks and Millets, announced this week that 89 of its stores would be closed.

It has not yet revealed which shops will face the axe, but it could affect Blacks stores in Broughton Shopping Park and Northgate Street, Chester, and branches of Millets in Wrexham and Chester.

The company has begun the closure and employee consultation process on the 89 loss-making stores and said the branches had been “a considerable drag on the core outdoor business which has traded successfully over the last two years.”
