Man dies after crash on the M56 near Hapsford

A MAN has died following a crash on the M56 motorway.

A 43-year-old man from Ellesmere Port died at the scene after being hit by a HGV on the carriageway.

The crash happened at about 9.15am on Monday, October 5, near Stoak.

As a result of the collision the eastbound carriageway, toward Manchester, was closed between junction 16 Dunkirk and junction 14 Hapsford until 12.20pm.

A North West Ambulance spokeswoman said: “We were called at 9.15am to reports of a man being hit by a lorry on the M56.

“The incident happened between junctions15 and 14, near the A5117.”

Police are appealing for witnesses to contact Cheshire Police on 0845 458 0000.
