A Duddon family have held a golf day at Pryors Hayes Golf Club to raise funds for the Countess of Chester Hospital

A FAMILY has raised £6,382.46 in memory of their son with a golf day at Pryors Hayes Golf Club.

Duddon family Jonathan and Angela Smith, and their daughter Vicky, organised the event in memory of Paul Smith, who died aged 28 in April at the Countess of Chester Hospital.

Paul, who worked at Speedyhire, Chester, was being treated in the Intensive Therapy Unit and his family have donated the money to the hospital to purchase new equipment.

Hospital fundraising manager Kate Taylor said: “Paul’s popularity is obvious from the amazing turnout and success of the golf day.

“His friends and family have really done a fantastic job raising the money and their generosity will go a long way to helping other patients being treated on ITU.”

The family thanked Barclays Commercial Bank at Gadbrook Park for its donation as part of the bank’s employee-matched fundraising initiative and Pryors Hayes Golf Club, of Oscroft, Tarvin, as well as everyone who took part, donated prizes and made the day a success.
