Great Boughton photographer Tim Lloyd to take great strides in aid of Unicef

A PROFESSIONAL photographer will be crossing continents when he takes part in a series of marathons and half-marathons in the name of a good cause.

Tim Lloyd, a Great Boughton resident currently living in Australia, hopes to raise £550 for Unicef by taking part in three long-distance runs over three continents in the space of four weeks.

Tim will begin his fundraising challenge on Sunday, when he will take part in the Sydney half marathon, before heading to London for the Royal Parks half marathon on Sunday, October 11.

The following day, Tim will jet off to Istanbul for the Eurasia marathon, the only marathon to cover two continents, to take place on Sunday, October 18.

Tim spoke of why the idea of taking part in this marathon appealed to him.

He said: “My initial interest in the Istanbul marathon was from my desire to walk over the bosphorus bridge, which is always closed to pedestrians.

“This is the one day of the year that you can walk, or in my case run over, it so the decision to compete in the marathon was easy.”

Tim also explained how he has had to fit his running training in between snowboarding.

He added: “I spent two weeks in a south Sydney suburb running on the beach there but am now up in the snowy mountains where every run is a mixture of hills and altitude which is basically a killer.

“All runs have to be fitted around snowboarding with me spending most of the day on the hill and with temperatures as low as -7°C it’s a bit of a contrast from the heat of Sydney!”
