A THUG from Frodsham has been sentenced to 40 months in a young offender institution for his part in a crimewave which involved breaking into homes and terrorising residents.
David Wade, 18, of Weaver Crescent, Frodsham, and accomplice Adrian McLennon, 25, of Brookvale, pleaded guilty to aggravated burglaries.
Warrington Crown Court heard on Friday that the pair raided the home of Kirsty Aspinall and her partner Paul Curry on Wednesday, April 29, along with another man.
The trio forced their way into their bedroom and two of the men attacked Mr Curry, knocking him to the floor, while one grabbed him by the neck.
Miss Aspinall was punched, strangled and kicked in the ribs and legs.
They eventually fled empty-handed, leaving the couple with minor injuries and damage to their home amounting to £651.
The defendants were arrested following DNA testing on blood left on the walls of the flat.
Jonathan Duffy, defending, said Wade had too much to drink and allowed himself to get involved in a crime that was ‘impulsive’ and ‘unsophisticated’.
Sentencing, Judge David Hale said: “You have both pleaded guilty to a very serious offence, when you terrorised people in their own home.
“Both of them were completely terrified out of their wits – when they are entitled in their home to feel secure.”
