Your Champions: Claire House Children’s Hosice nominated for Team of the Year

A CHILDREN’S hospice has received recognition for its charitable efforts.

Claire House Children’s Hospice has been helping children aged 0-23 years with life-threatening or life-limiting illnesses by providing 24-hour respite, palliative, and terminal care for them.

Now the charity has been nominated for a Your Champions Team of the Year accolade.

Paul Rutherford, who nominated Claire House for the award, paid tribute to their hard work.

He said: “Claire House does incredible work supporting children with life-limiting illnesses and their families.

“I was especially impressed when I learned they support children and families beyond the walls of the hospice, helping to give them a higher quality of life than they would otherwise face in hospital.

“There is constant pressure to generate the funds to keep the hospice running and winning the award will help profile the great work they do.”

The hospice has a specialised care team and facilities including a multi-sensory room, hydrotherapy pool, and arts and crafts room.

Staff members provide physiotherapy and music therapy and there is a fully-equipped computer room. It is a place where the whole family can stay in a home from home friendly-environment to enjoy quality time.

Claire House does not receive any Government or NHS funding and needs the help of the residents in Chester to raise £2m a year to meet its costs.
