Blacon’s Link Up Club to host range of activities and displays in open day

Sex shop licence

A CHESTER sex shop argues the renewal fee for sex shop licences is too high.

A request for a lower fee of £500 was made to Cheshire West and Chester Borough Council's licensing committee by Richard Allmark and Patricia Murray of Nice n Naughty in Brook Street. Councillors decided the renewal fee should be fixed at £2,800.

Disabled workshops

A CLUB run by disabled people for disabled people plays host to a range of displays and workshops for its open day.

Link Up Club’s open day begins at 10am on Thursday, September 3 in the offices of Chester Scope Development Centre, Western Avenue, Blacon.

The Rolling Beathovens, a Wirral band with several autistic members, and Noise Pollution will be performing on the outdoor stage.

A number of dancing groups will also be present, including danceability, Mulberry dancers, Dance Squad and Dancefx.

Other attractions include a birds of prey display, a t’ai chi demonstration and a computer workshop.

Housing allocation

CHESHIRE West and Chester Borough Council is considering how best to spend its £3.4m allocation as a housing growth point during 2009/10 and 2010/11.

The possibility has emerged that the council could purchase sites to bring forward in partnership with developers which would leave it in a key position to deliver when the housing market begins to recover.
