North West Ambulance Service has appointed Community Resuscitation Development Officer

NORTH West Ambulance Service (NWAS) will teach people to save lives.

Ambulance technician Robert Sharples has been appointed community resuscitation development officer, funded by the British Heart Foundation (BHF).

He has worked for the ambulance service for more than 23 years and will be involved in educating the community in heart health initiatives, including what to do in a life-threatening emergency.

Claire O’Neill of the BHF said: “If someone collapses from cardiac arrest their chances of survival reduces by 14% for every minute until defibrillation takes place.”
